Kiku Hughes

I'm a comics artist and writer based in the Seattle area. My work has been featured in "Avatar: The Last Airbender - Team Avatar Tales," Short Box #6, the Alloy, Elements and Beyond Anthologies, and others. My debut graphic novel, "Displacement," will be published by First Second on August 4, 2020. It tells the story of a young yonsei girl being pulled back in time to experience the Japanese American incarceration camps alongside her grandmother. 

I want to tell stories that uplift and empower, that let underrepresented people feel seen. I'm interested in soft sci-fi, lgbt characters and relationships, found family narratives and anti-capitalist agendas.
